It's surprising how often we read or hear about some good health advice and choose to ignore it. In recent times there has been much debate and controversy surrounding the health benefits of taking omega 3 supplements.
Is fish oil good for you is quite a general remark these days, as more and more detailed research and studies have pinpointed a number of health areas in which people have expressed a positive opinion when having taken these dietary supplements regularly.
These include the health of your heart and brain, skin, vision and your immune system. Scratch the surface and you will come up with one study or another that mentions these omega 3 fatty acids, as being essential to us in quite a few ways.
But, things have moved on a tad since we were young kids and the bottle of cod liver oil was administered by your mum or granny as as general tonic. Today we're big consumers of this dietary supplement and it's no longer the case of is fish oil good for you but a question of yes I want to take it and believing it gives us a protective boost.
Take the health of your heart for example, there's a body of evidence that suggests even healthy people who take them would benefit. Those at risk of cardiovascular diseases would also reduce the chances of suffering a heart attack for instance if they took fish oils. Such statements may be taken with a pinch of salt but, even the American Heart Foundation has expressed similar opinions.
There's no doubt that many of us who are looking at ways to stay fitter, younger, and healthier into old age, could well do with taking some small but positive steps in this direction. If you think that fish oils are for you, take a look over my personal research into what constitutes a good fish oil supplement.
